DiaoChan's adoptive father was a loyal official of the emperor and foresaw that Dong Zuo's behavior would threaten the stability of the empire. So, DiaoChan volunteered to go to Dong Zuo to try to resolve the situation. Both Dong Zuo and HIS adopted son, Lu Bu, liked DiaoChan very much. Eventually, Lu Bu killed his father, Dong Zuo, over this matter - ending the challenge to the emperor. DiaoChan was commemorated as a woman who was willing to sacrifice herself for the good of the country and it's people. Legend has it that one night DiaoChan was looking at the moon from her garden, but a cloud was blocking the view. Her father proceeded to tell everyone who he met that his daughter was so beautiful that even the moon hid its face. So, DiaoChan was also called "embarrassing the moon".
